Economic Development in Acadiana requires regional planning, strategic investment, and collaboration among communities, which is accomplished through EDD Designation Projects. As an Economic Development District (EDD), the Acadiana Planning Commission (APC) identifies and helps execute projects that are important to the long-term sustainability and growth of the region. These initiatives are incorporated into the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), which is updated every five years.

What EDD Designation Projects are active in Acadiana?

APC currently supports projects addressing infrastructure, emerging industries, transportation, utilities, and other regional priorities. Projects include improvements to fiber optic infrastructure, development of Acadiana’s biopharmaceutical sector, parking infrastructure at Lafayette Regional Airport, and water and wastewater improvements in communities throughout the region.
