APC Spearheaded the Catalytic Transformation of University Avenue

The Acadiana Planning Commission has been able to dramatically impact the University Avenue and Cameron Street area by focusing on catalytic redevelopment. Our ability to bring stakeholders together over a long period is one of our greatest strengths as an organization. Once the site of a dilapidated and crime-ridden motel, APC secured funding to tear down the motel and create room for the stunning Bottle Art Lofts - now the hub of a redeveloping area.

As Governor John Bel Edwards said, “Bottle Art Lofts would not have happened if left up to the market and private real estate developers. It took visionary leadership and a public-private partnership to make it happen.”
